Ingredients

Scale

Omelette Base

  • 3 large eggs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Caprese Filling

  • 60 grams fresh mozzarella, sliced thinly
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced thinly
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, rinsed and torn

Optional Garnishes

  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
  • Additional fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Slice the fresh mozzarella and ripe tomato into thin, even pieces. Rinse and tear fresh basil leaves. Crack the eggs into a bowl, lightly season with salt and pepper, and whisk until smooth.
  2. Heat the Pan: Warm a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a splash of olive oil, swirling to coat the surface evenly to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  3. Cook the Eggs: Pour the whisked eggs into the pan, gently swirling to spread evenly. Allow the eggs to cook without stirring, letting the edges set while the center remains slightly runny.
  4. Add Caprese Ingredients: Carefully arrange the sliced mozzarella, tomato, and torn basil leaves over one half of the omelette. Lightly season again if needed.
  5. Fold and Finish: Use a spatula to fold the omelette in half, encasing the filling. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the eggs are fully set.
  6. Plate and Garnish: Transfer the omelette to a plate. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired and top with a few fresh basil leaves for color and aroma.

Notes

  • Use fresh mozzarella and ripe tomatoes for authentic, vibrant flavor.
  • Cook the eggs on medium-low heat to keep the omelette tender and avoid browning.
  • Do not overfill the omelette to make folding easier.
  • A non-stick skillet ensures the omelette doesn’t stick and maintains its shape.
  • Season the eggs before cooking and again after adding the fillings to balance flavors.
