Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Protein

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon

Cheeses

  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Vegetables and Aromatics

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup dill pickles, chopped

Sauces and Condiments

  • 2 cups tomato sauce (seasoned)
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

Others

  • 912 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bacon and Beef Mixture: Cook the bacon in a large pan until crispy. Remove and crumble, then set aside. In the same pan, sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant. Add ground beef and cook thoroughly until browned. Drain excess fat, then mix in the tomato sauce, mustard, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Fold in the chopped pickles and crumbled bacon to combine the signature flavors.
  2. Cook Lasagna Noodles: If using regular lasagna noodles, cook them according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat on a sheet to prevent sticking. No-boil noodles can be used directly.
  3. Assemble Your Layers: Grease a baking dish. Spread a thin layer of the beef mixture on the bottom. Layer noodles over the beef, then sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses. Repeat layering until ingredients are used up, finishing with a top layer of cheese for a melty, golden finish.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Cover the dish with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes. Remove the foil in the last 10 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and turn golden brown and bubbly.
  5. Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes after baking to set the layers, making it easier to slice and serve.

Notes

  • Drain excess fat from the beef thoroughly to prevent soggy layers.
  • Use sharp aged cheddar cheese for a more robust flavor and excellent melting.
  • Keep layers balanced and not too thick for even cooking and great texture.
  • Let the lasagna rest before slicing to help it hold its shape.
  • Drain pickles well to avoid excess moisture in the layers.
