Ingredients

Gnocchi Bites

  • Potato Gnocchi – 1 package (about 16 oz), fresh or store-bought
  • Olive Oil – 3 to 4 tablespoons, for frying
  • Parmesan Cheese – 1/4 cup grated, freshly grated recommended
  • Garlic Powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt – 1/4 teaspoon, or to taste
  • Black Pepper – 1/4 teaspoon, or to taste

Marinara Sauce

  • Marinara Sauce – 1 cup, fresh or store-bought

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh Basil Leaves – a few, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gnocchi: Pat your potato gnocchi dry thoroughly with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture, which helps them get crispier when frying.
  2. Heat the Oil: Pour enough olive oil into a large skillet to cover the bottom and heat on medium-high until the oil shimmers but does not smoke, ensuring the gnocchi fries to a perfect golden crisp.
  3. Fry the Gnocchi: Add the gnocchi in a single layer to the hot oil without overcrowding the pan. Fry each side for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  4. Season the Bites: Once fried, transfer the gnocchi bites to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still warm, toss them immediately with grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to evenly coat.
  5. Serve with Marinara Sauce: Warm the marinara sauce separately or serve at room temperature for dipping. Arrange the crispy gnocchi bites on a platter and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Notes

  • Pat the gnocchi dry before frying to avoid sogginess.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure even cooking and crispness.
  • Use medium-high heat to maintain hot oil without burning the gnocchi.
  • Grate Parmesan cheese fresh for the best flavor and texture.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy maximum crunch.
