Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips

Vegetables

  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup carrots, shredded or julienned
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced

Seasonings & Oils

  • 1 ½ tbsp olive oil or sesame oil (for sautéing)
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Slice the chicken breast into thin strips for quick, even cooking. Shred the cabbage finely and julienne or shred the carrots. Mince garlic and ginger, and thinly slice green onions so that all ingredients are ready before cooking.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat the olive or sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken strips and cook, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden and are cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sauté Aromatics: Push the cooked chicken to one side of the pan. Add garlic and ginger to the other side and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not burnt, enhancing the dish with deep savory notes.
  4. Add Vegetables: Stir in the shredded cabbage and carrots. Toss all ingredients together and cook for 4-5 minutes until the cabbage is tender yet still crunchy, preserving texture.
  5. Season and Finish: Pour in the low-sodium soy sauce and add red pepper flakes if desired. Stir well to coat all ingredients evenly. Just before serving, garnish with thinly sliced green onions for a fresh burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Prep all ingredients beforehand to ensure smooth and quick cooking.
  • Use a hot pan to sear the chicken properly and keep vegetables crisp-tender.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if needed to avoid steaming.
  • Use fresh garlic, ginger, and vegetables for the best flavor.
  • Adjust soy sauce gradually to control saltiness and overall flavor.
