Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Cheesy Breadsticks

Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Cheesy Breadsticks combine the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with melted provolone and mozzarella cheeses, wrapped in soft, pillowy breadstick dough. This recipe offers a savory, cheesy, and satisfying snack or meal that’s quick to prepare and perfect for sharing at parties, game days, or casual dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin steak
  • 1 medium bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil (for sautéing)

Cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Dough & Finish

  • 1 pre-made pizza dough or breadstick dough (about 12 x 8 inches when rolled out)
  • 1/4 cup garlic butter (melted, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Sauté the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers in oil over medium heat until they become soft and lightly caramelized. Add the thinly sliced steak to the pan, season with salt and pepper, and cook quickly until just browned. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pre-made pizza or breadstick dough into a large rectangle approximately 12 by 8 inches. Ensure the dough is even for consistent baking.
  3. Add Cheese and Filling: Evenly sprinkle shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border along the edges. Spread the cooled steak and vegetable mixture evenly atop the cheese layer.
  4. Roll and Slice: Carefully roll up the dough from the long edge into a tight log shape. Pinch the edges to seal the seam. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into individual breadsticks about 1.5 to 2 inches thick, revealing the spiral filling inside.
  5. Bake and Brush: Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Once out of the oven, immediately brush each breadstick with warm garlic butter for a fragrant, flavorful finish.

Notes

  • Use thin steak slices to ensure quick cooking and tender bites.
  • Do not overfill the breadsticks to prevent dough breakage or filling leakage.
  • Allow the filling to cool slightly before assembling to avoid soggy breadsticks.
  • Brush with hot garlic butter immediately after baking for best flavor and shine.
  • Serve warm to enjoy melty cheese and tender dough texture at its best.
