Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Protein

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese

Pasta

  • 12 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta

Seasoning and Garnishes

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Peel and devein the shrimp if needed. Mince the garlic, grate the Parmesan cheese, and chop fresh parsley. Cook the pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and reserve a small amount of pasta water.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the shrimp lightly with salt and pepper. Cook shrimp for about 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Alfredo Sauce: In the same skillet, melt remaining butter if needed. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Slowly pour in heavy cream while stirring constantly. Do not let it boil. Gradually add grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and is smooth.
  4. Combine and Finish: Return cooked shrimp to the skillet and gently toss to coat in the sauce. Add the drained pasta and a splash of reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce if necessary. Mix thoroughly, ensuring every strand of pasta and shrimp is coated.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top. Add extra cracked black pepper or Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve hot immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh or properly thawed shrimp for the best flavor and texture.
  • Cook pasta al dente as it will continue to cook slightly when combined with the sauce.
  • Keep the sauce warm over low heat to avoid boiling and curdling.
  • Reserve pasta water to help the sauce adhere better to the pasta.
  • Always grate Parmesan cheese fresh for smoother melting and superior taste.
