Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 cup fresh mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Dumplings

  • 3040 dumpling wrappers (pre-made or gluten-free if preferred)
  • Water, for sealing wrappers
  • Oil, for pan-frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Finely chop the mushrooms and green onions. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped mushrooms, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix thoroughly by hand or with a spoon until the ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is slightly sticky.
  2. Assemble the Dumplings: Place a dumpling wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about one teaspoon of filling into the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold in half to form a semicircle, and pinch the edges tightly to seal. Create pleats if desired for a traditional appearance.
  3. Cook the Dumplings: Heat a nonstick pan over medium heat with a little oil. Arrange the dumplings flat side down in the pan. Cook until the bottoms are golden brown. Then add a splash of water to the pan and cover immediately to steam for 5-7 minutes, ensuring the filling is fully cooked and the wrappers are tender.
  4. Serve Hot: Transfer cooked dumplings to a serving plate. Drizzle with your favorite dipping sauce or garnish such as sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, or chili oil. Enjoy immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the dumplings to avoid difficulty sealing and bursting during cooking.
  • Seal the dumpling edges with water to create a strong, leak-proof seal.
  • Use fresh mushrooms and aromatics for optimal flavor and texture.
  • Ensure turkey is fully cooked by steaming long enough after frying.
  • Experiment with different cooking methods like boiling or baking for varied textures or healthier options.
