Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 12 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves fresh minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheddar blend)
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Dough & Topping

  • 1 package Pillsbury crescent dough or equivalent soft pizza dough (about 8 oz)
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp grated parmesan cheese (for sprinkling)
  • Optional: garlic powder for sprinkling

Seasonings & Garnishes

  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional herbs: dried oregano, parsley, or fresh chopped parsley/chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until no pink remains. Drain excess fat, then add finely chopped onions, garlic powder or fresh minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until fragrant, then remove from heat and let cool slightly. Mix in shredded cheddar and parmesan cheese.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the crescent or pizza dough to an even thickness. Cut the dough into squares large enough to hold a generous spoonful of filling, ensuring bite-sized portions packed with flavor.
  3. Fill and Seal: Place a spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture onto each dough square. Fold the dough over and pinch edges firmly to form sealed packets and prevent filling from leaking during baking.
  4. Bake to Golden Perfection: Arrange the filled dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush each with melted butter, then sprinkle with extra parmesan cheese and optional garlic powder. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  5. Cool and Serve: Allow the bombs to rest for a few minutes after baking to set the filling and avoid burns. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces or garnishes like fresh parsley or chives.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the dough squares to prevent bursting during baking.
  • Seal edges well by pinching and pressing firmly to avoid leaks.
  • Use a sharp, aged parmesan cheese for better flavor depth.
  • Brushing with melted butter helps create a golden, shiny crust.
  • Allow bombs to cool briefly before serving to let the filling firm up.
