Ingredients

Scale

Proteins

  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak

Dough

  • 1 package crescent roll dough (8 oz)

Vegetables

  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (red, green, or yellow)
  • 1 cup sliced onions

Cheese

  • 6 oz provolone cheese, sliced or shredded

Cooking Fats

  • 2 tbsp butter or oil (for sautéing)

Seasonings

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp seasoning salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes, optional, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the beef and veggies: Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add thinly sliced steak or ground beef and cook until browned but still juicy. Add sliced bell peppers and onions, sautéing until tender and fragrant. Season with garlic powder, seasoning salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes for balanced flavor.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough: On a clean surface, carefully unroll the crescent roll dough into one large rectangle without separating the triangles to create a solid base for the filling.
  3. Add the filling: Evenly spread the cooked beef and vegetable mixture over the crescent dough. Layer a generous amount of provolone cheese on top, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent leaks.
  4. Roll and secure the bake: Starting from one long edge, gently roll the dough over the filling, encasing it tightly. Pinch and seal all edges firmly to keep the filling inside during baking.
  5. Bake until golden: Place the roll on a lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden brown and flaky.
  6. Let cool and slice: Allow the bake to rest for about 5 minutes after baking, then slice into portions. Serve warm to enjoy the melty cheese and savory flavors at their best.

Notes

  • Use room temperature crescent dough for easier rolling and less tearing.
  • Do not overstuff the filling to prevent soggy dough or bursting during baking.
  • Cook fillings thoroughly for deeper flavor and to reduce excess moisture.
  • Optional: Brush the rolled dough with melted butter before baking for a glossy, golden finish.
  • Slice carefully with a sharp knife or pizza cutter to maintain neat portions and avoid squishing.
