Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste

Cheese

  • 4 slices American or sharp cheddar cheese

Fresh Vegetables

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup pickles, sliced

Bowl Base Options

  • 2 cups cooked rice, quinoa, or shredded lettuce

Burger Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika or preferred spices

Optional Extras

  • Avocado slices
  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Crispy bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Bowl Base: Choose your base—rice, quinoa, or shredded lettuce—and layer it evenly at the bottom of your serving bowl to soak up the burger juices and sauce.
  2. Make the Smash Burger Patties: Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Divide the ground beef into small balls, then press each flat with a spatula. Season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until edges are crispy and bottom is dark golden brown, then flip.
  3. Add Cheese and Cook to Melt: Immediately after flipping, place cheese slices on top of the patties. Cover the pan briefly to melt the cheese thoroughly while patties finish cooking.
  4. Assemble the Bowl: Place the cheeseburger patties onto your prepared base. Top with fresh vegetables including lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, and pickles.
  5. Drizzle with Burger Sauce and Serve: Generously drizzle your homemade or store-bought burger sauce over the assembled bowl. Optionally, add bacon bits or avocado slices for extra flavor and texture. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use smaller meatballs for perfect smash and even cooking.
  • Ensure your pan is hot to develop a crispy crust on the patties.
  • Handle ground beef gently to keep the patties tender and juicy.
  • Cover the pan briefly after adding cheese to achieve smooth, melty goodness.
  • Toast the base or add crispy onions for extra crunch.
